Barneys Version: 72 Out Of 100 Stars

For the love of Christ would someone please put Paul Giamati in a 5 star movie and let him do his fucking thing, cause this guy is just about the greatest working American actor we have.

This is a slightly above average script that Giamati elevates into the upper echelon by just being a great fucking actor.

It's a rather simple story about the life of a man and the women he has, will, and does love. There exists only a slight problem with the women being out of his league, but he's so powerful a presence that you tend to believe that he could actually bag these babes and make them fall for him.

The story tries to make itself a little more erudite than it really is. When you strip everything away, it plays closer to a soap opera than a grand story of a mans life, but again, it's easy to get over that when Giamati is shaping the material.

There are some twists, some turns and some sadness, including a bit of a stomach punch 3rd act but overall it's an enjoyable film about a dude and the way he sees things.

Most actors couldn't have done with Barney what Giamati does, so Barneys Version is the way to go.
