I started to write this review like 3 months ago and had it as a 33 out of 100, looking back I was being far too kind. Jesus fuck this movie is an abomination. It tries to have a heart but it's just too motherfucking stupid for anyone to care.
James plays a Mall Cop doofus of the highest order who of course has a heart of gold, but a heart of gold with a 10 cent brain can only get you so far. There were times when I sensed the film might be turning the corner into something worth watching only to get hit over the head with more ginormous stupidity.
Now I know one probably shouldn't complain about plot holes in a move called Mall Cop, but for fuck sakes man, it really felt like they were making this shit up as they went along. A store is being held hostage yet people come and go from the mall despite a gazillion cop and swat team members outside of it. Of course the premise is wholly ridiculous, but a ton of movies have gotten by on ridiculous premises. Others, such as this one, just fucking collapse on their stupidity.
James is not a movie star. I spent a lot of this film being sad for him.
The material, the actors, the execution, everything in this film is total shit.
Do yourself a favor and skip a trip to this mall. Hah Hah.
