What an utter dissapointment this film was. There's likely to be some spoilering in this review so be forewarned.
Ok, first of all, almost none of the movie made a lick sense. Zak & Miri are really in love? Ya think? I could have told you that after watching the first 5 minutes of the film. When the film is based around the leads being oblivious for no other reason than it's a plot point, you are in major trouble. Secondly, the leads are abrasively annoying. I mean really annoying. I'm no prude, obviously, but the Kevin Smith style of, lets throw in a cuss word every 2 seconds, really gets overdone in this movie. I would hate these people if they existed in my world, as it was I simply had to hate them on my TV screen for 90 minutes.
So besides the fact that the leads are annoying and abrasive, the comedy and story is really sub par. The whole "funny porno titles" is something we've all probably done at one time or another, so it comes off as redundant and to make it worse, hardly any of the ones they come up with are funny. The story itself makes zero sense as if they simply wanted to make a porn featuring them, why not just shoot a scene featuring them? All the auxiliary characters and overwrought money subplots are stupid because they aren't needed, unless of course you have no real story at the heart of the matter, which this film really doesn't.
I'd say the secondary characters are the best part of the film, but that's pretty faint praise considering none of them are all that great either.
In summation, there are a few good laughs, but considering it's 90 minutes of jokes, "a few" good laughs isn't the highest of praise. Just a foul mouthed, not nearly as funny as it thinks it is, clunker of movie with a stupid premise and a worse telling. Avoid Zak & Miri, they're idiots.
